Last updated: October 26, 2026

At Semiversal we believe information is a common good, and taking care of yours is part of our responsibility too. Here we explain in plain language what data we collect, what we use it for, who we share it with and how you can exercise your rights. We also describe the site's cookies and how to control them.

01Who is responsible for your data?

Semiversal is responsible for processing the personal data you provide on semiversal.com, in accordance with Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties and other applicable regulations.

For anything related to your data, write to us at contacto@semiversal.com.

02What data do we collect?

  • Newsletter: your email address, when you sign up to receive regular updates.
  • Carbon footprint calculator: first name, last name, date of birth, phone number and email address, plus your answers about consumption habits.
  • Contact: any data you include when you write to us by email or social media.
  • Browsing: information about how you use the site (pages visited, device, browser and approximate location), only if you accept analytics or advertising cookies.

The water consumption calculator runs all its calculations in your browser: what you type there is not sent to or stored on our servers. We do not request sensitive personal data.

03What do we use your data for?

Necessary purposes, to provide the service you ask for:

  • Sending you the newsletter with news, articles and project updates.
  • Sending you your carbon footprint results and tips to improve them.
  • Answering your messages and requests.

Additional purposes, which are not essential and which you can refuse:

  • Producing statistics about how the site is used to improve our content.
  • Inviting you to Semiversal initiatives, surveys or events.
  • Measuring the reach of our posts and campaigns on social media.

If you don't want us to use your data for additional purposes, write to contacto@semiversal.com or reject analytics and advertising cookies. Refusing does not affect the service you asked for.

04Who do we share your data with?

Semiversal does not sell or rent your personal data.

To run the site we rely on providers that process data on our behalf and under our instructions, such as web hosting and email delivery. If you accept them, we also use the analytics and advertising tools described in the cookies section. We will only share your data with third parties when a competent authority requires it under the law.

05How long do we keep it and how do we protect it?

We keep your data while you remain subscribed or while it is needed for the purpose it was collected for. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we erase it, unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it longer.

We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect your data against damage, loss, alteration or unauthorized access.

06Your rights and how to withdraw consent

You have the right to Access your data, Rectify it if it is inaccurate, Cancel it when you believe it is not being used properly and Object to its use for specific purposes (known in Mexico as ARCO rights). You can also withdraw the consent you gave us at any time.

To exercise them, send an email to contacto@semiversal.com including:

  • Your name and a way for us to reply.
  • A document proving your identity or, where applicable, that of your representative.
  • A clear description of the right you want to exercise and the data involved.

We will reply within the time limits set by law. To stop receiving the newsletter, simply ask at that same address. If you believe your right to data protection has been violated, you may turn to the competent data protection authority.
